Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 March 2026

vdoPulse ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the vdoPulse mobile app ("the App"), how we use it, and your choices around that data.

1. What We Collect

Account information

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. This is used to create and identify your account within the App.

Watchlist & video data

When you save a video, we store metadata about that video locally on your device and, if you are signed in, in our cloud database. This metadata includes:

AI & transcript data

When you request an AI summary or ask a question about a video, we retrieve the video's public transcript from YouTube and send it to a large language model (LLM) to generate a response. Transcripts are fetched on demand and are not stored permanently on our servers beyond the duration of the request.

Social & friends data

If you use the social features, we store:

Chat messages are stored in our cloud database and are visible to the participants of that conversation. We do not read your messages except where required to investigate reported abuse.

Analytics & usage data

We collect anonymised, aggregated usage events (e.g., features tapped, screens viewed) to understand how people use the App and improve it. These events do not contain personally identifiable information. We use Firebase Analytics for this purpose.

Subscription data

Subscription purchases are processed through the Google Play Store and managed via RevenueCat. We do not store your payment card details. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from RevenueCat to unlock Pro features.

Crash & diagnostics data

If the App crashes, we may collect a crash report including device type, OS version, and a stack trace. This helps us fix bugs. No personal data is intentionally included in crash reports.

2. How We Use Your Data

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored locally on your device (using SQLite) and, when you are signed in, in Google Firestore — a cloud database provided by Google. Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Firestore security rules ensure that only you can read and write your own data, with the exception of data explicitly shared with friends (recommendations, chat).

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, but no system is completely secure. Please use a strong, unique password for your Google account.

4. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your cloud data (watchlist, bookmarks, social data) is deleted within 30 days. Data stored locally on your device is removed when you uninstall the App.

5. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

6. Children's Privacy

vdoPulse is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify you via the App or email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
